2025 Charlotte Canine Hero
For each PuppyUp Walk, the Event Manager and their Walk Team select both a Human Cancer Hero and a Canine Cancer Hero, to be honored during the Walk ceremonies.
These Heroes are chosen because of their exemplary attitude towards their particular type of cancer, showing bravery and hopefulness in their fight against this terrible disease.
The Canine Hero for the 2025 Charlotte walk is Kennedy. Her photo and story are shown below.
Kennedy was born on 3/8/2016. She is a Chow.
She has an inoperable liver tumor that was diagnosed on 2/1/25.
She never started treatment, so hospice care essentially started then.
She loves to plop on the ground with her toes kicked back behind her. Likes to puff too. She was an avid hiker when she was healthy and younger. She enjoyed hiking to waterfalls.

Kennedy crossed the Rainbow Bridge peacefully on April 25, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
